Pieces & Movesets

The Horse/Knight, Rook, King, and Pawn move the same as their modern chess counterparts. The Alfil (Elephant) and Ferz move as below:

An Alfil that moves as a 2,2 leaper.

Alfil (Elephant)

A Turkish Great Chess Ferz which moves one square diagonally per turn.

Starting Arrays

The King and Ferz are always directly across from eachother, however, which is left or right of center is up to the players. The decision does not give either side an advantage or significantly affect the game.

Pawn Promotion

Pawns are immediately promoted to Ferz when they reach the opposite rank.
